Educating a Professor

I'm planning my study abroad trip to Argentina this summer, where I will be studying Spanish. It is well known that I am a beef cattle enthusiast, but when that was brought up in my first orientation class this week, I heard interesting feedback from my professor about her conceptions of the beef industry. Trent Loos and I dive into this topic this week in a show I know you'll enjoy! :)

Amanda, I have enjoyed reading your articles in the Farmers Advance. I am interested if Cyrta buys leather shoes, has leather products of any kind? Does she buy wool clothing, a renewable resource from sheep? Does she spend more than fifteen minutes per day finding food for her family? Has she seen an animal starve in the wild due to over population? Does she have a companion animal such as a dog, cat, or goldfish? To many times I find that a vegetarian is only such when it suits them and ignores the fact that animals need assistance and the price for that assistance is meat, clothing, by products. How much time and effort does Cyrta put into growing her own food? Does she have a garden, a window box? Does she know that plants are living breathing things and yet she consumes these plants without thought for the amount of effort it takes to produce a growing crop. Has Cyrta spent her hard earned money to grow a crop and see droubt destroy any chance of returning a profit? Seen cattle that were killed due to a blizzard because it was impossible for the rancher to reach them in time to save their lives or they were burried in the snow. Put an old horse down because it was the right thing to do? We as farmers and ranchers work long hard hours to provide food, fiber, vegetables, grains etc. at the lowest price with more variety than any where in the world. If you spend less than fifteen minutes per day finding food you have plenty of time to challange where your next meal should come from.
