Two days ago I posted my journey of standing up for animal agriculture and leading a peaceful walkout on the Carrie Underwood Concert at the 2006 National FFA Convention. I also reposted my video on YouTube. Since then, there has been over 100 views on the web. Along with that have been some incredibly positive feedback, but with that also comes the negative.
I've decided to post some of the comments my video has received on YouTube. These are just a small taste of what I went through last October: my friends didn't talk to me, my peers thought I was crazy, and my parents were certain I was going to end up in jail. Welcome to my pioneer! :)

i don't know why this girl would promote animal agriculture when SHE'S A COW HERSELF. one day someone is going to mistake her for the heffer she is and string her up by her hooves. then some happy ffa loving family can roast her. hopefully they have a george foreman grill so they can drain all the fat off before they eat or i foresee a few untimely heart attacks.

This is bogus. Amanda has a true connection with animals. She is a DOG.
Susie911 says,
This COW needs to get her facts straight!
I heard a quote last night that said,
"There is never a wrong time to do the right thing."
The time is now, what's right is standing up for our future in food production. Are you ready? Oh yeah, and don't forget to listen to my Chewing The Cud radio interview with lobbyist Jess Peterson as we talk about the future of the Beef Checkoff Program. The link is on the right hand side of the page. Have a GREAT day!

Amanda, you're amazing story about organizing the walkout of the Carrie Underwood concert is inspirational and uplifting. Most people I know wouldn't even think of doing something like what you have accomplished. I hope to find a way stand up for what I believe in as well, and it's people like you who have lead before that give us even more reason than ever to act on what we believe in. More power to you Amanda and I hope you keep on amazing the rest of the world with what you are doing.

Well I just have to say I wish more people were like you and stood up for something they believed in. This was a great example of the things that can be accomplished by simply stepping outside of a comfort zone and being proactive. Gotta say well done to you and think of how many people became aware by what you did.

Caitlin and Jenny,
Thanks for the comments on my most recent posts. I appreciate your support. Also, congrats on becoming the new National Beef Ambassadors. It's a huge honor, and I'm confident your team will have an excellent year of learning, growing, and promoting the beef industry for America's cattlemen and women!
Good luck on your travels!

Amanda,
What you did took courage and it shows your true devotion to the livestock industry. Don't let all the negativity stop you from furthering the cause of animal agriculture. We, the rest of the cattle producers who want to see our industry thrive, are standing beside (not behind) you. Remember, what's popular is not always right, but what's right is not always popular. Keep on doing what you know deep in heart is right, and you will make a difference!

You know you're doing the right thing when you strike a chord with someone especially a negative chord! Keep up the good work.

Amanda-
What an inspiring message you sent to all of us who are dedicated to the agricultural world that we live in: that we must continue to fight for what we believe and for our way of life. The walk-out from Carrie Underwood's concert showed your committment and passion and I commend you on that! I also wanted to say great interview with Jess Peterson. I've known him for about a year now and he's always one of the first to give me updates in the beef industry. Keep up the good work.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the words of encouragement! I tell ya, after that post about grilling me with the George Foreman, I went and worked out for a few hours.
Get my temper rolling, and my workouts seem to be a lot more intense! I should probably thank him for it!
Also, thanks EVERYONE for YOUR dedicated support to the agriculture industry! You are all fabulous!
