A New Advocate for Beef

When your words and actions match, people know they can trust you.

With all of my beef promotions, I sometimes wonder if I truly make a difference and if I have an impact on the consumers I speak with on a daily basis. I have blogged about my friend Natalie, the runner who lost strength when she cut beef from her diet. Natalie is my best friend, and we chat everyday. As an exercise enthusiast, she is always giving me workout ideas and I’m constantly suggesting new ways to incorporate beef into her diet.. Natalie is my inspiration and motivation. She has gone from not eating beef at all, to encouraging her friends to eat beef at every meal!

How did this transformation come about? Obviously my constant speeches about beef nutrition didn’t convince her to change her ways. Did you know that a 3 oz. serving of beef has only one more gram of saturated fat than a skinless chicken breast with 6-8 times the nutrients?

I had to show her how great beef was through my actions and not just my words. I took her out to eat a sub place. She followed my lead and ordered a roast beef sub. This option wasn’t so out of the ordinary to me, but Natalie was astonished.

She told me, “Mandy, this roast beef sandwich is so good! Usually, I eat a turkey or chicken breast sub and am hungry only a few hours later. This is both filling and healthy!”

Now Natalie calls me just to share what exciting new beef option she has tried for the day! It’s stories like these that let me know I have made a difference. I realized that people are willing to listen to your words but more readily respond to your actions. I am convinced that if we actively show consumers how to incorporate beef into their diets, they will serve as the ultimate advocates for the beef industry.

Have you incorporated beef into your diet today?
